Tinker Pan...

I don't want to agree with Kricfalusi on everything he says, but this is one of the few exceptions.

Why is Tinkerbell a Peter Pan cosplayer now?

What happened to the fact that she's mute, has a devious side, and will backstab to get what she wants? I know I'm late to the party, but Disney(not Pixar) have to make Tinkerbell the star of a series that has the same kind of generic feeling of a Saturday Morning special where we needs a aesop(or "anvil" if you're a troper like me) dropped on us?

If Disney was going to do something different with their characters than retcon everything I loved... Why don't they get Brom and team up to do a adaptation of the "child thief", like the time Brom teamed up with Tim Burton to do "Sleepy Hallow"? A lot of people sure liked Burton's bastardization of Dodgeson's work with a linear plot rather than the political jokebook it was originally intended.

Maybe I'm wrong, my uncle sure likes the new Tinkerbell movies. Then again, maybe it's due to the fact that the rest of the fairies are just as much fanservice as Tink is.

Sorry for my diatribe, but I'm getting annoyed with this whole "spinoff", "remake", and "sequel" crap. I was discussing this with my father earlier today. Especially on the topic on turning beloved characters into "teenagers". I mean this by Ben10, Precious moments, Rugrats, the Donald Duck cousins, and etc. One exception has to be Max from Goof Troop and the Goofy movies. With Max, we were given character development at a fine pace and given a clean slate of material, we as a audience, to view. We accepted the characters and enjoyed the storytelling without having to get in our facies about how the characters are "radical".

Same with Toy Story. It's actually funny for me to be mentioning this since I grew up along with Andy each time the films were made. He was just a character we as a audience accepted since each film was the "clean state" to storytelling. Each with a different plot but still leaving the character format for the audience to understand. Then again, let me put emphasis on this, the writers for the Goofy movies and Toy Story saga treated Max and Andy as actually people than a tool for a certian age group to connect.

With "Big O", the manga author and episode directors wanted to create role model that children could look up to, a adult who deemed interesting but left as a role model for the children who watched it. That situation was made a tool for their viewer, but thanks to the way it was written, the protagonist Roger Smith was left as a human being than a "hallow marketing tool". Which is why I connected with the series as a teenager. It left a good impression on me wanting to see more character development and stories about the protagonist and his city of amnesia.

Then there's "Poochy". For those who don't watch the Simpsons, the ratings of the itchy and Scratchy show were needed to grow, so a suit decided they needed a new character to hit to the young audience. Hip and proactive. So, the people in charge of the show designed and created a "hallow marketing creation" called "Poochy". The idea bombed and that's the metaphor of today's world of programming. Except, characters like Poochy, are actually doing great! This saddens me. If people keep watching the stupid live action shows on Cartoon Network, we're going to get bland, unhuman-human slates of "stereotypes" than serious animation and live action storytelling. The less people watch something that doesn't have a soul to it, the more we can clamor for more intelligent entertainment. More original characters, stories, styles, and other mediums than the computer, pen, or camera. We should invent new ways to present mediums than stick to marketing gigs to raise prices at theaters.

Nintendo is currently making a DS that is 3d/4d without glasses. Maybe if we learned from that, we could excel and try to achieve higher than that.

Robot girl based on Necronomicon... What.

Tell me... Does this plain, underdressed girl look like a bible or a robot?!

Getting my Entertainment Earth catalog from the mail a few days ago, I was enjoying the fun merchandise like usual. Until... That thing caught my attention. It was the design, but the summary that caught my attention. Seriously! What the hell? Are those black blades that are lifting up for some reason supposed to emphasize that?

Here, let me show you something is a Necronomicon.

This, my friends and passerby profile viewers, is my father's copy of the necronomicon. Sure, it doesn't look like the one that looks much more eldritch from Army of Darkness, but it's still a book(written with theories mind you) of the necronomicon. The author of that edition was very kind to put a Sumerian-to-English translation in it to explain how to pronounce the words. That is the necronomicon. Not a "moe-anthropomorphized" girl. A book.

The page for buying the toy can be found here:
[link]

Now, I found on the website a better Moe-anthromorphization of the necronomicon that doesn't seem as bad as the one that made me write this journal entry.

The funny thing is though that at least they got a book in there, the illustrations from my copy look like mathematical symbols drawn by Alister Crowley than something drawn by Paracelsus.
Link for that toy is here:

Yup, I was apparently caught by this elderly woman for stealing "socks". She probably thought that since I was picking one up next to my boots, instead of stuffing them in like she said, I get fired due to that.

Some "experience"! Hired and Fired on the first job I'm on. Y'know, I believe that things were hectic today since the manager's manager came in, and I had to answer both of their requests at the same time. I really loved this job, I really did, and then that old lady bumps into me and asks me "if I'm stealing a sock" that I was hanging up since one of the two managers asked me to organize the socks section. They honestly didn't think I was going to be fired for stealing something I didn't intend to steal in the first place.

:(

I began to cry outside after they took my badge, since the managers told one of my ex-co-workers to tell me to get off of my back from the ground and they asked me what happened. My father picked me up, and my parents understood my side of the story since they knew I hated clothes. Even my mother says that socks are the most stolen product in a store.

To even top it off, I'm going to watch Twilight Eclipse to appease myself and my father for his parody novel and just to inform you guys if the film is still boring as the last two.

Funny thing, Tvtropes has this trope/term called "retirony". That's basically my situation since I was going to be called off this job the week after this to get a new job due to my social worker finding me jobs to gain a salary. I thought my wasn't going to get my salary after being fired, but apparently, the days I did work I'm going to get money anyways. Anyways, Sundays are usually boring due to the customers leaving before 9. So, this was probably a good and bad way to end my first job. The manager's manager probably had it in for me for some reason...

Hey guys, sorry about my last entry. Being fired is not fun, but you know what? A good dosage of art and comedy usually are a panacea to my woes.

When I was a starting as a teenager, I used to save webcomics and put them into my computer for rereading, but as I got older, I felt that saving many of the strips would slow down my computer, so I deleted the many entries I saved for years.

Now that I'm starting fresh, I've finally gotten some comics read from start to finish, and now I can continue on and look at some new comics I haven't had a chance to see.

To start off:
Basic Instructions.

The spice of life series of the deadpan-snarker author and his conversations with his wife and co-workers. It's a instructional comic and the images that tell you how not to do it, but the advice comes really handy.

Dan and Mab's Furcadian Adventures

The adventures of a coming-of-age incubis who deals with the calamity of his friends, government, and his old foes. Almost every strip ends with a joke which makes me think of Hiromu Arakawa's way of writing. Even at the darkest points of the comic, Williams tries her best to make sure things come uplifting. Maybe it's not your kind of comic, but I like it.

DevilBear: The Brimoires of Bearazlebub

Parody of all things cute and cudely and sending them to hell in a handbasket(literally). Starting out as a comic with fanservice(the Daivas of sins) and crude humor, but as the story progressed with character development, it moved at a pretty good and fast pace, making you care about the characters and seeing more of the author could parody. Thanks to my father, I know about this comic.

Flying man and Friends

The comic that takes nonsense and makes a storyline out of it. This is a comic I like since it's the author's output for trying different types of art with his characters. It kind of makes me see things through the mind of a child.

Awkward Zombie

Videogame comic based around parody and the logical way of how it would be if characters actually weren't scripted. This is one of those comics where I like to read at the commentary of what the author has to deal with, that I find the author much as a character as she writes the comics.

Comic Critics

Currently doing a archive binge on this one due to seeing Linkara's latest video. It's about two protagonists that have opposing views on comics, with one more for the mainstream comics, while the other is more for the independent side of comics. Despite their likeness for comics, they are friends and use their knowledge of comics to critique them and their commentary. A great read if you have the time.

Then there's the newspaper strips:
Brewster Rocket: SpaceGuy!

Tim Rickard views on politics and popular culture in space... The characters are well written, the storylines don't need much of a archive search, and you can recognize them right away, especially the way they act. Another comic my father introduced me to.

I'll be continuing my column soon with more titles. So, I thought I'd make a compilation of what I've already written and list future titles to be reviewed. I might even go back watching a film a second time just for the review. As well, I should be reviewing the books I pick up as well since I tend to forget the "read" part of the title.

Felix the Cat
Serindipity the Pink Dinosaur
Twilight:Eclipse and Night of the Lepus

Upcoming titles:
(Film)Night On The Galactic Railroad

Double Feature

A few days ago, I watched two bad movies in one day. Surprisingly, the second film isn't as terrible or boring as the first! I actually don't regret seeing these movies and that's why I'm making a review.

First up, Twilight: Eclipse(A.K.A. the romance scenes between Anakin and Padme extended to sheer boredom)

Yes, Twilight.

It starts out with me smiling! Yes, I smiled at the first part since it wasn't Twilight scrawled over it. To my surprise, it actually seemed like a normal horror movie with a victim I cared about for a few minutes being chased by "vampires" who flitted(thank you, Cirgue Du Freak) onto chasing him down and eventually killed him. Once the screen turned black, I prayed this wasn't Twilight. It was.

Then we go off to the bleakness of fanservice and Bella's inner monologues of boredom with her life. More Edward. More Jacob. Yadda yadda yadda. Same old stuff.

Then the best character comes onto the screen, her father! Eeee.... Yeah, he's the only one I really like.

Then some conspiracy between the Cullen's talking about their "race" making a new army of fairy-pires. Then we switch to a scene where these fairy-pires hunt down some humans and the director pans over to some random little girl to make us feel sorry for her which fails since we don't get any character development out of her(I think she played in Silent Hill). Then he pans to the Illuminati of fairy-pires looking down at the group that's making a new army. Then the scene ends with more fan service of "do or don't they" because we all love that rather than some good pacing and character development, don't we?

Then we get to the scene were I evade my eyes from the screen due to how many shirtless males were there. Yes, most of the "native American" men have their shirts off except for the women. I was questioning this to my father since this bothered me. He explained that this isn't national geographic or directed to both genders. This saddens me since if you notice the animation of the characters changing into their animal forms, they rip of every piece of their clothes. which begs the question as to how Jacob gets a new pair of pants?

A little pow-wow of the "wolves" gives character development of the history between fairy-pires and shapeshifters since Bella asks, and we get a better story idea than the piece of garbage I watched. Funny that I should mention this but every time a character says his or her background story, I keep questioning "Why didn't they make a film about this rather than fanservice tripe!?"

The director pans from that scene to much more boring stuff about "Oh Edward, make me a fairy-pire just like you", "No", "why not", "Because I said so, nothing-for-brains", "okay". That basically describes a good 80% of the film, half if you count the scenes with Jacob butting in and asking the same question with him and nothing-for-brains.

Finally, we get to the scene that basically acts as the "face-punch" of this movie:Bella doing a falcon punch on Jacob's face. I laughed so hard during that scene, and the laughter added up after she broke her hand. Though it makes sense in the scene, the future pedophile tried to rape her. Huh. Wasn't this story about Meyer's metaphor for "abstinence"?

Then later, Edward asks Jacob about why he usually has his shirt off. Makes me wonder if that was a ad-lib. Makes it seem that Edward can have a brain when the actor is in control of his role rather than him wanting to slit his wrists for regretting on joining this role in the first place.

Pointless scene of the three in a tent, with Mary-sue-without-brains wanting to sleep with the shirtless guy and Edward being grumpy. Then the Mary Sue sleeps and we have pointless banter about "hey, audience! Remember all that stuff that was interesting in the last films? We're going to waste your time with that rather than actual character development between Jacob and Edward."

After they wake, we get to see Jacob being forced to...

Hey guys and world! I'm not dead nor done with art. For the most part, I'm just being stuck with family/city government problems. Due to the sale of the property, it seems we might not be moving at all. Then again, me being a Cassandra of Truth, I had a idea it might not happen. So... Yeah, it's pretty depressing around the Baron house-hold. With not having enough money, I've been hungry. Though, thanks to the church my parents are a part of, we get food through them.

My father is selling the 1912 so we can have some income and a chance to go to Knotts for the Halloween Haunt and the day after for the Orange County Bug and Monster show. We'll be driving the 59 Cadillac hearse for the annual procession like usual. It seems October will end on a happy note after all.

Thanks to :iconvandono: and a random employee of the nearby Subway who wanted me to design a tattoo for her, I got their requests through. Her lineart is done, I just need to color it, but :iconvandono: is still in pencils, but I'm really grateful since I was waiting for the book he wrote of the character I needed to draw hadn't been in the mail yet, so him providing a link of the character's profile really helped! It's turning out pretty good, my parents are really amazed over it.

Besides those requests, my publisher friend's mother had been waiting a long time for me to draw Mickey. It was just a week ago at Disney on Ice when she told me, that I felt really bad that I forgot. I feel better now since I'm making this a anniversary present, even though I'm not going to ink the second image. Now that I went straight ahead to draw the image, I figured I show you the difference of the two images.

I basically had to draw the image twice due to the Dr. Pepper stains. Used my lightboard to trace my original sketch. I'll ink the original and digitally color it when I finish some other inking projects.

Question:Why did my scanner make the color of the paper pink when it's white?

Upcoming topics
Frontierville. I feel that I want to do a "See or Read It" article on it since the game needs more recognition than being overlooked as a "Facebook game".
Last Temptation deconstruction. Seeming that the concept album by Alice Cooper and the comic by Neil Gaiman are two different entities yet the same story, I feel that taking a close look would be interesting. As well as the two music videos that are attached as well.
Disney Animated Cannon. Seeing that Disney on Ice basically butchered the films and removed what made a Disney film, I thought I should deconstruct explaining why Disnye films are good rather than perceived as children-shlock.
Linewire Lessons. It seems that artists need to understand this to gain a flexibility in their style. I figure that one way to gain more in your work is to try something I figure would be best for my watchers. Sort of inspired by John Kricfalusi, I wanted to show the anatomy of figures from different artists.
